Digital Extremes brought two pieces of news at once. First: Warframe: Tau, the next big expansion, arrives in December, free, on PC, consoles and mobile. For the first time, players leave the Origin System to explore a new star system, Tau.

A nice touch: Tau already appeared in The Old Peace, from December 2025, showing what the system once was. Now the expansion shows what is left after eons of war, with a new cinematic single-player story chapter, a revamped Survival mission on the moon Perita, the mob-run ring city Fornax, the social hub MANIFOLD 90-BF and a new Warframe, Brysko. The studio promises more at the next Devstream on November 27. Launched in 2013, Warframe has passed 90 million players.

Second: Soulframe, the studio’s fantasy action RPG, opens its Soulframe Preludes alpha to all PC players from Friday, November 6, with no invite and no Founder pack needed. Access stays through its own launcher on the official site; this is not the full launch, nor a Steam or console release. Alongside it comes the Preludes 17: Verse of the Veilands update, with rideable wolves and progression rebuilt around reclaiming corrupted regions.

Indies and pixel art

Capitão Pixel swears he has a pilot’s license, but the only thing he really flies is the Steam Next Fest demo list. He covers indies, pixel art and art direction, and can write three paragraphs about a jump animation. He has never been seen without his captain’s cap, not even in photos (which, let’s be honest, are all drawn).
