Pull up a chair by the hearth, because this one is cozy and a little spooky: The End of the Sun, a first-person adventure inspired by Slavic folklore, is out now on Xbox Series X|S as of Wednesday, November 4. Polish publisher IMGN.PRO is releasing it, and it was made by The End of the Sun Forge, an independent, family-run studio from Poland. To mark the launch, the game has a 20% discount for one week.
One village, four seasons
You play Ashter, a Slavic fire mage who wields time, arriving in a mysterious village where the line between myth and reality starts to fade. Following the traces of a fire, you uncover the stories of the villagers across four seasons set many years apart, meeting the same people at different stages of their lives. Something you witness in one moment takes on a new meaning in another, slowly revealing the connections between people, places and the secrets they left behind.
A lovely detail: historical buildings and everyday objects were brought into the game through photogrammetry, the technique that turns photos of real objects into 3D models, to recreate a world shaped by traditional crafts, customs and rural life. The game has Polish and English voice acting, and the Xbox store lists Spanish and Portuguese among its supported languages.
Price
The End of the Sun costs $24.99 / €23.99 / £18.74, with the 20% launch discount available for one week; on the US store that brings it to $19.99 until November 12 (checked November 4). Find it on the official Xbox store page.
PC players may already know it: the PC version launched on Steam on January 29, 2025, for Windows, Mac and Linux, at $24.99, and this week it is on sale for $12.49 (checked November 4).
Into Slavic myths in games? In October we also covered YAR: Forgotten Throne, a Slavic RPG that came to PS5 and Xbox. It is a small corner of folklore that keeps growing, and our hearts are very happy about it.
