Motion Twin, the studio behind Dead Cells, has released the last Windblown update before version 1.0. The name says everything about the studio’s sense of humor: the update is called 0.9999999, and the airborne action roguelite, in Early Access since October 2024, is one step from its full launch.

What changes

The most visible combat change is enemy attack previews, a warning system that helps you read the chaos of a fight, along with adjusted attack timings. Co-op and Cataclysmic difficulty have been rebalanced, and higher difficulties add enemy force fields that only break with an Alterattack. There are also quick-return teleporters for when you take the wrong turn on a branching path, and a reworked shop system with six specific types, from gear to healing.

The list goes on with 17 new affixes, a reworked rarity system, new Mythic Gift variants, new islands, expanded controller support and auto-combo accessibility options. Full patch notes are on the official site.

Two years of Early Access

The game received 10 major content updates over that period. “We’d call it 1.0, but we’re not ready to say goodbye yet,” the team joked in the announcement.

For anyone jumping in now, the game is part of La Motion Week on Steam with 30% off until November 5.

He covers remasters, remakes, collections and series anniversaries, always remembering where each game came from. Ask him his age and he answers in console generations.
