Blow on the cartridge and pop it in: Philadelphia-based Retroware has put physical editions of two retro-style games on sale in its official store, including a real NES cartridge.

AVGN 8-Bit on NES

The Angry Video Game Nerd 8-Bit, developed by Pittsburgh’s Mega Cat Studios, now comes as an NES cartridge in two colors: the gray Standard Edition for $69.99 and the red NERD RAGE Limited Edition for $79.99. Each cartridge includes a manual illustrated by Mike Matei, the Nerd’s longtime video partner. The game is a pixel-art action platformer in the AVGN universe, with zombies, mechanical skeletons, alternate routes to the bosses and familiar faces from the Nerd’s past.

Prison City on disc and cartridge

Programancer’s Prison City is no longer digital-only, with physical editions for Switch and PS5 at $39.99 each. Both include the full game with all post-launch content, including new modes and remixed stages, plus a reversible cover. It is an action side-scroller inspired by NES classics like Shatterhand and Power Blade, in which you use a chakram and grenades to infiltrate eight security zones.

Both games are also on Steam for PC players.
