These are the principles behind everything SavePoint publishes. We are a Brazilian games site made by people who play, and we want you to know exactly how we work.
Sources and attribution
Our news comes from official sources (publishers, developers, stores and PR agencies) and from trusted outlets and creators. When information comes from another outlet or person, we credit and link to the original source. Every article ends with its source. Rumors and unconfirmed information are always labeled as such.
We write in our own words: we don’t copy press releases. Direct quotes always appear in quotation marks and are attributed to the speaker.
Headlines
Headlines say what happened, with the game’s name and the fact. No clickbait, no misleading headlines, no ALL CAPS and no “you won’t believe”.
News, opinion and press releases
News reports facts. Reviews, analysis and commentary reflect the opinion of whoever signs them and are labeled as such. Smaller press releases (invitations, official statements, mass announcements) go to the Press releases section, rewritten by us and kept apart from the news.
Who writes
SavePoint is edited by Xavier, founder and editor in chief. Sapo covers fighting games and Helio signs his own pieces. Part of the news is signed by our newsroom characters: Capitão Pixel, Lady Combo, Zé Cartucho, Doutor Overclock and Moleque do Fliperama. They are pen names with personalities of their own (and drawn avatars); the reporting, the sources and the responsibility for what we publish belong to the SavePoint team. Scored reviews are always signed by real critics.
Use of artificial intelligence
We use artificial intelligence tools to help draft news from official sources, to translate our content into English and Spanish and to put together daily roundups. The team picks the stories and sources, reviews and answers for everything that goes live. AI-generated roundups are labeled. Reviews and opinions reflect the real experience of whoever played: no review is written by AI.
Reviews and scores
- Scores go from 0 to 10 in 0.5 steps. Every scored review states the platform we played on.
- When the publisher provides the copy, the review says so. It does not influence the score. We never publish review codes or keys.
- Games in Early Access get impressions, not a score: the game is still changing.
- Studios that hire our consulting service (private pre-release evaluations) never get a scored review on SavePoint, and news about them carries a disclosure of the business relationship.
- Our reviews also appear on OpenCritic.
Prices
Our English articles keep the original price from the official source as published. Our Portuguese articles show the price in Brazilian reais from the official Brazilian store, with the date we checked it. We never convert currencies ourselves.
Independence and affiliates
SavePoint is funded mainly by affiliate links (such as Amazon and Mercado Livre): if you buy through them, we earn a commission at no extra cost to you. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Affiliate links appear in the “Where to buy” box and are labeled. Business partnerships don’t decide our coverage or our scores. Sponsored content, if any, will be clearly labeled.
Consulting for studios
Through A3G, SavePoint offers studios private pre-release evaluations under NDA. Games evaluated through this service never get a scored review here; the fee never depends on the opinion delivered, and nothing from the private evaluation is published.
Corrections
Mistakes happen, and we fix them quickly and openly. See our Corrections Policy.
