It hit hard: Mycopunk, the sci-fi co-op shooter from Pigeons at Play and Devolver Digital, has left Early Access and reached version 1.0, along with its PlayStation 5 debut, where it is also available on PlayStation Plus.
The game entered Early Access in July last year with highly customizable team shooting and a sharp sense of humor. After a run of updates, 1.0 brings weapons, grenades, game modes, maps, a new character and, in Devolver’s own words, best of all: hats you can wear.
Fungal clean-up on the moon
The premise is pure Devolver: a mysterious fungal threat is ravaging the surface of New Atlas, and you are part of the clean-up crew. Gather your squad, gear up with combat tech and head down to the moon to send the blight back where it came from.
The arsenal is absurd, and weapons are upgraded through a grid-based system for anyone who wants to build their dream sci-fi “super weapon”. Enemies come in hordes, with a nasty twist: they use the remains of their defeated companions to grow bigger and stronger. Combining abilities and weapons with your team is what keeps the chaos in check.
Between missions you can relax in the H.U.B., an orbital ship full of toys, games and secrets.
The PS5 release marks the game’s first appearance on consoles, and because it is part of the PlayStation Plus catalog, subscribers can jump in with their squad as soon as the update lands. A launch trailer for version 1.0 is out now.
