Behold! XD Games has just put together two things the world was not ready to see side by side: the turn-based RPG Etheria: Restart and the fighters of Guilty Gear -Strive-. Season SS6.4 Eidolon Scourge is now live worldwide, and the Chinese publisher has confirmed a global collaboration with Arc System Works: three Guilty Gear -Strive- characters will join the roster in season SS7.
Guilty Gear in SS7
The partnership was officially announced at the October TapTap Games Showcase. The three fighters arrive as Animuses, as Etheria: Restart calls its playable characters, and form a new faction. XD Games has not yet said which characters were picked or when SS7 begins: more details will come later. Guilty Gear -Strive- is still going strong on the competitive circuit, and is even part of the Evo Brazil 2027 line-up.
What SS6.4 brings
SS6.4 is the extended finale of the SS6 Pyrite Nyx anniversary season and runs from November 4 to December 2. Its star is Thalos, vice-captain of the Elysian faction’s Third Manhunter Corps. He is a defense-oriented support Animus, built to take damage in place of his allies while wearing enemies down with Damage-Over-Time abilities such as Infernal Flame. If he falls in combat, Thalos revives himself on a later turn with a percentage of his max HP, and he is immune to control effects. In practice, that means a team that is far harder to take down. A limited-time “Prowess Up” event gives exclusive rewards to players who max out Thalos’ potential.
PvP is changing too. The Summit Arena gets an affinity-restricted draft format: at the start of every match, players pick one of several affinity combinations and can only field characters that match it. The numbers, my friends, are generous as well: win points are increased during this special season, and players below Platinum rank no longer lose points when they lose a match.
Rounding out the update are a new auto-matched arena event, a new banner and the Seneschal Chaku, a “smart butler” that claims daily rewards and makes one-click shop purchases.
Etheria: Restart is free to play on PC (Steam), iOS and Android. If you follow season-based RPGs, Honkai: Star Rail version 4.7 arrives on November 11.
