Behold: robot gladiators being sliced up in real time, piece by piece, now in your pocket. Clone Drone in the Danger Zone, the melee combat hit from Doborog Games, comes to iOS and Android on November 12, a Thursday. The same day, the Steam and console versions get the game’s 10th Anniversary Update.
The news came out of the first Doborog Direct, the studio’s own showcase, and pre-registration for the mobile version is already open.
What the anniversary update brings
The 10th Anniversary Update adds three new Challenges, including the long-anticipated Saw Dog and a new, narratively rich Challenge. The mobile version, according to the studio, is fully optimized for phones.
In practice, that means the game where your mind is uploaded into a robot gladiator, and where any part of your body can be sliced off thanks to the voxel engine, will fit on a phone screen. The numbers, my friends, are deliciously absurd: according to Doborog, the game has sold over 2 million copies and holds 97% positive reviews out of more than 36,000 on Steam. NME once called it “the perfect choice for anyone looking to switch off their silly human brains and spend a few hours smashing robots.”
Vinyl, keyrings and a mystery project
Doborog also announced merch with iam8bit, including keyrings and a Clone Drone in the Hyperdome vinyl, from the series’ VR game, and showed a teaser for Project Orca, the studio’s next game, a sci-fi project. More details later. The world is not ready… and I can hardly wait.
On Steam, Clone Drone in the Danger Zone costs $19.99. Mobile pricing has not been announced yet.
