Numbers first: 40 mm Razer TriForce drivers, 7.1 surround sound, Chroma RGB lighting with 16.8 million colors and a USB-C connection. That is the new wired Razer Kraken Kitty V3, announced by Razer on Wednesday, October 21, for gamers and streamers. And yes, it still has the cat ears.
What is inside
The TriForce drivers use a proprietary three-part design to separate lows, mids and highs more cleanly. In practice, that means hearing more clearly the difference between a game alert, your team’s voices and background sound. The microphone is the Razer HyperClear Cardioid: it favors what comes from the front, your voice, and reduces surrounding noise, useful if you stream next to a loud keyboard.
The ear cushions are a hybrid of fabric and synthetic leather, designed for long sessions and offering some passive noise isolation. The USB-C connection is plug-and-play and works with compatible PCs and mobile devices, with no receiver needed.
Lighting that reacts to chat
The Kitty line’s signature is still the light. The ears and earcups have Chroma RGB, and through Razer’s Streamer Companion app the lighting can be set to react to alerts, emotes and chat activity during a stream.
Razer also thought about use away from the desk: plug the fixed USB-C cable into a power bank and the lighting stays on at conventions and cosplay meetups, with three lighting presets to switch colors and effects on the go. Translated from marketing speak: it is a headset that doubles as a costume accessory.
Price and availability
Razer’s announcement does not include a price, and the company says there is no forecast yet for a Brazilian launch. Official images show it in black, pink and white. Earlier models in the Kraken Kitty line are already sold at regular retailers.
