After years of silence, Konami was talking about Silent Hill again. On October 16, 2022, the series’ official account announced a broadcast with the latest news on the franchise, the Silent Hill Transmission, set for Wednesday, October 19, at 2 p.m. Pacific time, 6 p.m. Brasília time.

The post opened with a line every fan recognizes: “In your restless dreams, do you see that town?” It is a direct reference to Silent Hill 2, in which James Sunderland goes to the town after receiving a letter from his dead wife. And “restless dreams” also recalls Restless Dreams, the subtitle used in North America for the expanded version of the game, released first on Xbox in late 2001. For many people, it was a clue that the second game would be at the center of the announcement.

The anticipation had a reason. The first four Silent Hill games, made by Team Silent between 1999 and 2004, are psychological horror classics. After them came games from Western studios with a much weaker reception, and in 2015 Konami cancelled Silent Hills, the Kojima Productions project introduced by the P.T. demo. Since then, the series had been practically idle.

What came next

The broadcast confirmed the series’ return with several announcements: the Silent Hill 2 remake, made by Bloober Team for PlayStation 5 and PC, plus Silent Hill f and Silent Hill: Townfall. The remake came out on October 8, 2024. Silent Hill f arrived on September 25, 2025 and sold more than a million copies on its first day, the series’ fastest launch. Townfall was released on September 24, 2026.
