The Dead Space remake got a date in May 2022. During a livestream by the art team at Motive Studio, an Electronic Arts studio, it was announced that the game would arrive on January 27, 2023 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, with no PS4 or Xbox One versions.
The stream, called “Crafting the Tension”, showed how the team was redoing the art of the 2008 game and compared elements of the original with the new version, such as the Ripper and the flamethrower. The images were released with a notice that the art was still in development and did not represent the final version:

For those who want to watch the full stream:
The decision to leave the previous generation behind had a technical reason. The remake was built on Frostbite, EA’s engine, with all systems rebuilt from scratch, volumetric and dynamic lighting, and use of the new consoles’ SSD to eliminate loading screens between areas of the ship. EA also decided not to include microtransactions.
The story is the same as the original: engineer Isaac Clarke boards the USG Ishimura, a mining ship overrun by Necromorphs after the discovery of an artifact called the Marker. The difference is that Isaac now talks, converses and argues with the other characters, instead of being the silent protagonist of 2008. The remake also got a more detailed dismemberment system and more freedom in the zero-gravity sections, with thrusters. It was the first game in the series since Dead Space 3, from 2013.
What came next
Dead Space was released on January 27, 2023, as promised, and received generally positive reviews. Even so, according to press reports, sales fell below EA’s expectations.
