Anyone who has had to introduce their whole family at once knows the room fills up fast. That is what is happening in The Iceblade Sorcerer Shall Rule the World. The staff of the second season announced five new cast members on Tuesday (November 3), all of them appearing from episode 5, which airs on Thursday (November 5) in Japan. Four of them make up an entire clan, the Alferius family.
The new cast
These are the newly announced voice actors and their characters (the romanization of the names is not yet confirmed):
- Yūki Wakai (Cathy Alferius)
- Toshiyuki Morikawa (Abel Alferius)
- Tetsu Inada (Cyril Alferius)
- Daiki Hamano (Lard Alferius)
- Riona Imaizumi (Mia)
They join a cast that had already grown before the premiere: Hana Hishikawa (Olivia Arnold), Ryōhei Kimura (Julius Orphe), Aoi Koga (Bianca Miller), Konomi Kohara (Emma Clarke), Shiki Aoki (Maria Bradley) and Kazuyuki Okitsu (Marius Basset). Junya Enoki returns as lead Ray White, alongside Iori Saeki (Amelia Ros) and Akira Sekine (Ariane Olgren). Miyu Kubota took over Elisa Griffith from Nana Harumura, who retired from voice acting in January due to health reasons.
New studio, same director
Season 2 premiered on October 8 on TBS and the next day on BS11. Masahiro Takata returned as director, series script supervisor and sound director, but animation moved from Cloud Hearts to Zero-G, and Mariko Kawamoto replaced Makoto Shimojima as character designer. Sizuk performs the opening, “Diamond Dust”, and Maaya Uchida the ending, “Compression :[“.
As a father who learned the hard way that the strongest person in the room is not always the loudest, I have a soft spot for the premise: Ray White looks like an ordinary, slightly clumsy student at the elite Arnold Academy of Magic, but he hides the fact that he is the legendary Iceblade Sorcerer. And yes, I noticed the academy is still generous with charming classmates.
The story began as Nana Mikoshiba‘s web novel in October 2019 and became a light novel series in July 2020, illustrated by Riko Korie and published by Kodansha. Kodansha USA publishes the manga in English. The first anime season aired in January 2023. Crunchyroll streams the new season as it airs.
