Some stories ask for a slower pace, and Hirayasumi is one of them. The anime based on Keigo Shinzō‘s manga premieres in January 2027 on NHK General in Japan, and on Monday the official website revealed that singer TOMOO will perform the ending theme, “Fūmizekka” (roughly “Delicious Flavor”).
An unhurried young man and an inherited house
The story follows Hiroto Ikuta, 29, with no girlfriend, no full-time job and no plan for the future, and perfectly happy that way. After an unlikely friendship with the grumpy old woman in his neighborhood, he inherits her house, along with some difficult feelings. When his 18-year-old cousin Natsumi, a struggling art student, moves in, his easygoing way of life is put to the test.
Cast and staff
Yūma Uchida voices Hiroto and Mayu Takahashi plays Natsumi Kobayashi. The cast also includes Rikako Aikawa (Hanae Wada), Daisuke Namikawa (Hideki Noguchi), Yōko Hikasa (Yomogi Tachibana), Yume Miyamoto (Akari Yokoyama) and Yūichirō Umehara (Ryō Ishikawa), with TV announcer Yūko Naitō as the narrator.
Kei Suezawa (FLCL Progressive) directs at Production +h., co-produced with ShoPro. Naoyuki Asano (Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!) designs the characters, Mika Nishimura is art director and Kaori Sawada (What Did You Eat Yesterday?) composes the music. The first episode had its world premiere at Japan Society in New York on October 7.
The manga started in April 2021 in Weekly Big Comic Spirits, has ten volumes and more than 1.1 million copies in circulation, and ends on November 16. Viz Media will release the anime in English in 2027.
