This one is gentle and lovely: with the Day of the Dead coming up on November 1 and 2, The Sims 4 invites players to build a Mexican ofrenda to honor beloved Sims who have passed. The ofrenda is the traditional altar of the Mexican celebration, decorated with flowers, candles, photos and food to welcome the visit of loved ones.
The best part: you can do it all in the free base game. EA suggests items such as the Quadriptych Wall Decor, the Flower of the Dead, The Story of Three Candles and the Catrina Doll. Pan de Muerto from the kitchen or elotes from the grill complete the offering, and Sims can even dress up for the celebration. Anyone who does not want to start from scratch can download a ready-made altar from the in-game Gallery, and Mexican content creator Rous Garden published a full ofrenda tutorial, along with other creations in her gallery.
To go further, two expansion packs fit the theme. Life & Death explores what lies beyond life: Sims complete a Bucket List, linger as Ghosts with Unfinished Business, write Wills and explore Crypts, with decor items plus customizable tombstones and urns. Lovestruck brings Mexico-inspired content through the town of Ciudad Enamorada, decorative objects, recipes such as Pambazos (including vegan ones) and Axolotls to collect.
The Sims 4 and its packs are available on PC (EA app, Epic Games Store and Steam), PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. What a sweet tribute.
