A lovely detail right away: Hello Kitty Party Land is the debut title from Sanrio Games, the new games label of Hello Kitty’s owner. Published by Bandai Namco, the party game launched worldwide on Thursday, October 29, on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.

The cast is huge: Hello Kitty and more than 145 Sanrio friends, including familiar names such as Cinnamoroll, Pompompurin and Kuromi. Everything takes place in a colorful town you can explore freely with a custom avatar. There are areas for minigames, making music, growing crops, fishing and strolling through the mall for new items.

The heart of the game is its 45+ casual minigames and board games, themed around sports, food, music and more. You can play alone or with up to four people, locally or online. What stands out is the simple-controls approach, designed so children, beginners and experienced players can play together, which makes it a natural pick for family game nights.

Sanrio is a Japanese entertainment and lifestyle company known for characters that became global icons. Hello Kitty, its most famous character, has appeared in many games over the decades, but this is the first production under the Sanrio Games label. The game also has single-player modes, so it works for solo sessions as well as parties, and the launch trailer shows the town, the minigames and part of the character roster.

Indies and pixel art

Capitão Pixel swears he has a pilot’s license, but the only thing he really flies is the Steam Next Fest demo list. He covers indies, pixel art and art direction, and can write three paragraphs about a jump animation. He has never been seen without his captain’s cap, not even in photos (which, let’s be honest, are all drawn).
