What a different premise! In She’s Leaving, a first-person survival horror game from Blue Hat Studio, you are Charles Dalton, a forensic analyst specializing in bloodstain patterns. The investigation takes place in the fictional region of Haywood, where Haywood Manor has become the stage for mysterious disappearances, and a foghorn echoing in the dark warns you that you are not alone.

Investigate or flee

The mechanics are inspired by real forensic analysis practices: you have to calmly examine evidence around the manor and the fog-covered docks. Dalton carries a taser, and deciding between fleeing or fighting affects the course of the story.

“Murder is rarely senseless, it is targeted.” — Charles Dalton

Blue Hat Studio was founded in 2020 by two friends and spent five years on the project. Release is planned for the (northern hemisphere) summer of 2025, and the announcement trailer is on its way.

Our take

I love it when a horror game swaps the weapon for the method: reading a crime scene through blood is an idea that can deliver very tense moments. If the forensic side has depth, She’s Leaving has everything it takes to stand out.

He has never been seen without his captain’s cap, not even in photos (which, let’s be honest, are all drawn).
