Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 premieres on Netflix, and Cyberpunk 2077 gets free Update 2.5 on October 22

What stands out in this story is that it works on two screens at once: all ten episodes of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 are now on Netflix, and CD PROJEKT RED has announced a free Cyberpunk 2077 update inspired by the series for October 22.

A new season in Night City

Four years after the first Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, CD PROJEKT RED and animation studio TRIGGER return to Night City with a standalone series and a new cast. The story crosses the paths of a veteran edgerunner, a young cinephile, a chrome-obsessed girl and a Cobra Nation netrunner in a tale of revenge and redemption.

You can see the care in the team behind it: it is directed by Kai Ikarashi, with Kanno Ichigo as lead character designer. Returning from the first season are Masahiko Otsuka and Hugo Award winner Bartosz Sztybor, who serves as showrunner, writer and producer. Both seasons are Netflix exclusives.

Update 2.5 in the game

In the game, Update 2.5 arrives for free on October 22 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with new items and features, including content inspired by the series. The Nintendo Switch 2 version comes later, on a date not yet announced. CD PROJEKT RED scheduled a special REDstreams for Wednesday, October 21, on Twitch, YouTube and Steam to detail what is coming, with the official patch notes published the same day.

A detail that shows the size of the franchise: according to CD PROJEKT RED, Cyberpunk 2077 has sold more than 35 million copies, and the 2023 expansion Phantom Liberty has passed 10 million.
