Soul Fuel Games announced LHEA, a roguelite adventure that cites Slay the Spire, Monument Valley and Child of Light as references. The protagonist wakes up in the “In-Between”, a dreamlike world between life and death, and is guided by an ancient Word Spirit.

How the system works

The core is timeline-based combat: the player manipulates and optimizes the order of actions to gain an advantage. On top of that comes the Flute of Fate, which lets you equip and upgrade up to 9 enchanted rings spread across 3 customizable presets, used to cast knowledge spells. The realms are procedurally generated, so each run changes the map, the secrets and the available spells.

Release is planned for August 2025 on PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), iOS and Android. A demo takes part in Steam Next Fest, from June 9 to 16, 2025. The studio was founded in 2023 by solo developer and senior technical designer Jo Drolet.

Our take

Nine rings in three presets is a matrix small enough to fit on a phone screen and big enough to yield builds. If the timeline is readable on touch, LHEA has a good chance of working equally well on PC and in your pocket. If not, well, there is always the mouse.
