Spider-Man 2, released last Friday, became the fastest-selling PlayStation game in its history.
The highly anticipated Spider-Man 2 is already among us, and Sony reported today that the game, on Friday, October 20, sold more than 2.5 million copies in the first 24 hours, breaking the record for the fastest-selling game in PlayStation history.
The previous record belonged to God of War Ragnarok, which was released for PS4 and PS5 and sold 5.1 million copies in its first week.
Sony’s confidence in the game’s quality was so great that Spider-Man 2 was released early to major media outlets to do their reviews, and the embargo ended on October 16, almost a week before the release date.
On Metacritic, Spider-Man 2 got a score of 91.
The high score, the famous 90+, may have encouraged some undecided customers who did not want to pre-order and were waiting to see the reviews from their favorite site / YouTuber / profile, saying whether the game is good and whether it was worth buying or not.
