Sony announced today that it will raise the price of 12-month subscriptions on all PS Plus tiers.
Today, August 30, 2023, Sony announced the September games that will be offered on the Essential tier of its PS Plus subscription service.

Taking advantage of the post on the PS Blog, Sony also announced that starting September 6, the prices of the 12-month subscription on all PS Plus tiers will rise, to “allow us to continue bringing high-quality games and other value-added benefits to subscribers”.
At the time of writing, PlayStation Brasil has not yet announced the national prices, but we already have the dollar prices. When we have the prices in reais, I will update the article.
PlayStation Plus Essential – 12 months
From $59.99 to $79.99 (a $20.00 increase)
PlayStation Plus Extra – 12 months
From $99.99 to $134.99 (a $35.00 increase)
PlayStation Plus Premium – 12 months
From $129.99 to $159.99 (a $40.00 increase)
The new prices for 12-month subscriptions still carry a discount compared to the prices for 1-month or 3-month subscriptions. So it will be another hit to the wallet when they announce the new prices for those shorter periods.
Besides the price, Sony has not announced any other change to PS Plus. With the rumors that Sony will hold an event soon to announce a new PS5 model that will replace the current one, maybe we will get something new to justify this big price increase.
EDIT: PlayStation Brasil released the new prices in reais:
PlayStation Plus Essential – 12 months
From R$ 199,90 to R$ 278,90 (an increase of 79.00 reais)
PlayStation Plus Extra – 12 months
From R$ 339,90 to R$ 475,90 (an increase of 136.00 reais)
PlayStation Plus Deluxe – 12 months
