In April 2022, Techland told GamesRadar that Dying Light 2 Stay Human had passed 5 million units sold. The mark was reached on February 28, less than a month after the February 4 launch.

In the same conversation, the developer said the first Dying Light, from 2015, had already totaled more than 20 million units, and that the team was working on new content for the second game.
The launch numbers already pointed to the game’s strength: 3 million players in the first week, a debut in second place in UK physical sales, behind only Pokémon Legends: Arceus, and the fourth best-selling physical game in the United States in February, according to NPD. On Steam, the peak of concurrent players in the first 24 hours was almost four times that of the first game.
Dying Light 2 is available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Techland promised at least five years of support, and the video above, with praise from the press, was part of that celebratory phase.
What came next
The first addition came in April 2022, with New Game Plus mode. The Bloody Ties story expansion, with a combat arena inspired by Roman gladiators, came out on November 19, 2022, and Nightmare mode, the highest difficulty, arrived in April 2024. The second planned expansion ended up becoming a standalone game: Dying Light: The Beast, bringing back Kyle Crane, protagonist of the first game, released on September 18, 2025 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S and offered at no extra cost to those who owned the Dying Light 2 Ultimate Edition.
