Ok… Everyone is talking about this thing. That makes me really happy, to be honest.
I have a very intimate relationship with From’s games. Not Rule 34 intimate, but the kind of intimate that actually matters, the kind where I changed the course of my life because of the game’s message.
Or at least what is my interpretation of that message.
Elden Ring, even with the Tangled Finger of Old Bearded George R R R R R Martin in the middle, doesn’t stray a comma from that formula (By the way, the potential for finger puns is infinite). You still have to interpret what you see and hear, dig around for clues, give up for good and wait for the Vaati video explaining what’s going on.
Among my friends I’m one of those who has played the least because somebody has to work in this joint, but still I think I’m at about 75 hours and haven’t even punched the third (second main) boss to the ground.
Anyway, the story is pretty cool and all, but it’s the world that captivates. Every SoulsBorneKiroRing brings a feeling of being completely lost in a ridiculously hostile world, but no other work in the franchise has reached this level. It’s as if all the children’s stories we grew up hearing came true.
But the original version, not Disney’s. Where a happy ending was someone ending up maimed and the normal outcome was ending up dead.
The surprises are countless and sensational, so there’s little point in discussing events that may or may not happen in your gameplay. Just know that it is not only the best experience of playing From games with friends – whether on a voice call or in actual co-op – but also the culmination of the whole experience the company has built over time.
Yes, this post is only an introduction. A review is coming for when I stop injecting this game into my veins, so it will take a while.
