Horizon Forbidden West has finished development and reached Gold status, meaning the game can now be sent for manufacturing of the copies for sale.
On its social networks, developer Guerrilla celebrated that the game reached Gold status, which confirms the game will indeed be released on the set date and there will be no more delays.
This is a common practice in the games industry, as it is a celebration for the whole team that spent a long time involved in the game’s development, since things don’t always go as planned.
Today’s big games, those categorized as AAA, usually take 3 to 5 years to be finished, with a huge number of people directly involved.
Guerrilla also took the opportunity to release some footage of the game running on the PS4 Pro, since until now they had only shown footage of the PS5 version.
Horizon Forbidden West is set for release on February 18, 2022 for PS4 and PS5. And some sites and blogs have already received the game from Sony and are playing it early in order to publish their reviews on February 14, the date the embargo ends, 4 days before launch.
