Sony finally announces the acquisition of Bluepoint Games

Three months after the intern’s slip-up on Sony’s Japanese website, the acquisition of the studio Bluepoint Games was finally announced today.

Today I am very excited to announce that PlayStation Studios has grown again with the arrival of a longtime partner, Bluepoint Games! From the extraordinary Demon’s Souls remake for PS5 to the acclaimed remake of Shadow of the Colossus for PS4, and remasters of some fan favorites such as Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, Bluepoint has made its name creating some of the highest-quality remakes and remasters in the industry.

With each of its projects, Bluepoint has raised the bar for the visuals and gameplay that define the console, and the studio’s vast experience in creating environments and characters will be a huge advantage for PlayStation Studios’ future properties.

Austin, Texas, has been Bluepoint’s home since we founded the studio in 2006, and today we are a team of nearly 70 super talented and ever-growing creators. Although the studio has grown over the last 15 years, our cultural beliefs have remained the same, breaking barriers and always creating games of the highest possible quality while continuing to have fun. The focus on culture has been fundamental to our success and we are excited that PlayStation Studios shares a similar culture and vision.

PlayStation has a truly iconic catalog of games and, for us, there was nothing better than bringing some of the biggest games to new players.
