Some shows are worth it for the announcement and some for their affection for the community: episode 3 of Inside Xbox, set for May 17, 2018, promised both. Confirmation came via Larry Hryb’s (Major Nelson’s) Twitter and the official Xbox blog, Xbox Wire.

The star of the episode was State of Decay 2, Undead Labs’ zombie survival exclusive, which would arrive on Xbox One and Windows 10 PC on May 22. What stands out is the chosen focus: the show would go deep into the world simulation that drives the game. A nice detail: in State of Decay 2, each survivor has their own traits, and the community you build generates different stories and hard choices for each player.

In addition, the episode promised news on five anticipated games, feature announcements and exclusive gameplay. It would also have an Escape Room inspired by State of Decay, with the crew from the Smosh Games channel, Leahviathan, MrRoflWaffles, MrDalekJD and Benny and Sam, from Xbox On, plus Q&A with the developers, submitted by fans with the #InsideXbox hashtag.

The broadcast was at 7:30 PM Brasília time, on Mixer.com/Xbox, Twitch.tv/Xbox, Facebook.com/Xbox and Twitter.com/Xbox.

What came next

State of Decay 2 came out on May 22, 2018 straight on Xbox Game Pass, with cross-play between PC and console and co-op for up to four players. Critics were divided, with a 66 average on Xbox One at Metacritic, praising the combat and tension and criticizing technical problems. The game passed 10 million players by August 2021. In 2020 came the Juggernaut Edition, with improved graphics and the new Providence Ridge map. State of Decay 3 was announced in 2020 and is still in development.

Indies and pixel art

Capitão Pixel swears he has a pilot’s license, but the only thing he really flies is the Steam Next Fest demo list. He covers indies, pixel art and art direction, and can write three paragraphs about a jump animation. He has never been seen without his captain’s cap, not even in photos (which, let’s be honest, are all drawn).
