Update: Sony confirmed what the leak indicated. The February 2018 PlayStation Plus games were these:

  • Knack (PS4)
  • RiME (PS4)
  • StarBlood Arena (bonus, requires PS VR)
  • Spelunker HD (PS3)
  • Mugen Souls Z (PS3)
  • Exiles End (PS Vita)
  • Grand Kingdom (PS Vita and PS4)

The story began a day before the announcement. An ad on the PlayStation Store of a European country, reminding subscribers of the last days to claim January’s games, already named RiME and Knack as February’s titles. A user on the ResetEra forum posted the image, which is why we treated the matter as a rumor until official confirmation. The PS3 and Vita games did not appear in the ad because it was shown only by the store inside the PS4 itself.

Calmly, it is worth looking at what each one offered. RiME, from the Spanish studio Tequila Works, came out in May 2017: it is a puzzle adventure in which a boy wakes up on a mysterious island after a storm and must reach the top of a tower. You play it without hurry, taking in the scenery. Knack was one of the PS4 launch games, in November 2013, directed by Mark Cerny, the console’s architect: a family adventure in which the hero changes size to face an army of goblins.

The bonus StarBlood Arena, an arena combat game made for PS VR, required the PS4, the headset and the PlayStation Camera, and was available until March 6. Grand Kingdom, a strategy RPG, worked on both the Vita and PS4. Subscribers also received a starter pack for Gems of War.
