Come with me, this one is for anyone with a soft spot for action JRPGs: Nihon Falcom’s Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA arrives on Nintendo Switch 2 on February 25, 2027, published by NIS America.
The story is the kind that draws you in. Adol wakes up shipwrecked on a cursed island and, together with the other castaways, builds a village to survive and look for a way off. Along the way he starts dreaming of a mysterious blue-haired maiden, Dana, and finding out who she is becomes the heart of the adventure.
What the Switch 2 version brings
Combat is fast, and you can switch characters on the fly mid-fight. Dana has her own playable sections, and rescued castaways move into the village, offering useful services. In the new version, NIS America promises up to 120 frames per second and two-player co-op through GameShare, so you can save the island with someone else. A sweet touch for couples and friends.
The release also adds Spanish text to the game for the first time, alongside English and French. Audio is in English and Japanese, and the game is rated Teen by the ESRB.
For anyone who does not want to wait until February, Ys VIII has been on PC since 2018. The Switch 2 price has not been announced yet.
For readers in Brazil, one detail matters: Portuguese is not among the text languages. Developed by Nihon Falcom, the Switch 2 version supports one or two players, and NIS America has not yet said whether a physical edition is planned.
