One lovely thing about Free Fire is how Garena reinvents the game with each theme, and the Halloween one goes all out: the O Oculto (“The Hidden”) event runs from October 16 to November 1, with an alternate map, a haunted mansion and free rewards. This is Garena’s announcement for the Brazilian version of the game.
The Hidden Side
In Battle Royale, players who grab a Mask of the Beyond enter the Hidden Side, an alternate version of the map where the sky darkens and mysterious creatures appear on the horizon. Inside it you move faster, jump higher and interact with objects that stay hidden on the normal map to get gear. What stands out is the exit rule: attacking someone or taking damage sends you back to the normal map, so picking the moment to go in becomes strategy. Some weapons also get new mechanics, and the masks show up in Clash Squad too.
Being eliminated does not end the match for anyone either: if a squadmate is still alive, the fallen player returns as a sinister Puppet that can enter the Hidden Side, buff allies and use special emotes to help, or even annoy, their friends.
The mansion and the rewards
Outside matches there is an interactive mansion that changes with your progress. Daily missions earn tokens to raise the panic level and unlock new interaction points, where certain objects trigger horror animations and surprises. Among the free rewards, the highlight is the unisex Night Shadow set, with a dark hood, masked face and red details, along with a Macabre Escape jeep skin and a Chainsaw machete skin.
There is also a collection of outfits inspired by classic horror figures: Night Terror, with a worn coat, hat and skeletal silhouette; Night Apparition, with long black hair and effects that distort her image as she moves; and Macabre Creature, with dark tentacles on its back. You can see the care in the effects and animations. A loot item showing a pair of twins holding hands, arrival animations and themed parachutes complete the package.
