If you grew up with Claymore’s silver-eyed warriors, you have a reason to celebrate! Norihiro Yagi launched a new manga, Bartlet Fairy Basslet, on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ service on Monday (November 2). The first chapter is already out, and chapter 2 arrives on November 9.
A knight princess and a fish falling from the sky
Shueisha pitches the series as a “hack and slash fantasy epic” from the creator of Claymore. The official English synopsis says that after defeating her nemesis, Knight-Captain and Princess Brunhilde sees a mysterious shining fish fall from the sky. The promotional art already shows what Yagi does best: heavy armor, huge swords and long-haired knights in front of a castle.
In English from day one
MANGA Plus began publishing the series in English the same day as Japan, and Viz Media’s Shonen Jump service carries the chapters too. That means you can follow Bartlet Fairy Basslet week by week, legally, without waiting for a collected volume.
Who is Norihiro Yagi
Yagi ran Claymore from 2001 to 2014 across 27 volumes, and the series got an anime in 2007. Before that he made Angel Densetsu (1993-2000, 15 volumes, with a 1996 OVA), the comedy about the scary-faced boy with a heart of gold. His most recent work was Ariadne in the Blue Sky, in Weekly Shonen Sunday from December 2017 to February 2023, with 22 volumes. Now he is back at the house where he made his name, sword in hand.
