Suzerain: Kingdom of Rizia receives the big 3.1 Sovereign update

Come along and I’ll tell you: the kingdom of Rizia has gotten a lot bigger. Torpor Games released content update 3.1, called “Sovereign”, for Kingdom of Rizia, the Suzerain DLC. And yes, the king’s faithful little dog is even among the characters you can talk to. My little gamer heart is grateful.

A bit of context

Suzerain is a critically acclaimed narrative RPG in which you govern a nation and face decisions of government, diplomacy and moral dilemmas. In the Kingdom of Rizia DLC, released on Steam on March 25, 2024, the perspective turns to monarchy: you are King Romus Toras and must balance tradition, power and the fate of the kingdom.

What arrived in Sovereign

Twelve new scenes, with a big conclusion to the story, conversations with nobles, with the faithful dog and with returning characters, plus an extra game turn with final content and deeper epilogues.
Expanded royal decrees: build factories and shrines and pass laws for those you favor, with new religious, welfare and order decrees.
New crises: reworked national instability, religious unrest and sabotage.
More complete war, with an air force system and a smarter enemy AI.
Dynamic economy, with reworked trade, tourism, drug-related crime and the people’s religious happiness.
Visuals and interface: new character art for Rizia and Sordland, clearer decree categories and smoother story selection.
Torpor Account, with synced cloud saves, achievements and levels, and more than 30 new achievements.

Look what a cute list, right? It goes from the kingdom’s economy to your four-legged friend.

A new phase for the studio

The update also marks Torpor Games publishing this phase of Suzerain on its own, in partnership with Caboodle to grow the community. According to the studio, the mobile version had support from the IGDA and the IGDA Foundation.

Torpor also noted that the DLC would be 20% off until May 20 and that the price would go up afterward to reflect the added content. Suzerain can also be downloaded on Google Play and the App Store. More information on the Torpor Games website.
