Numbers first: Ghosts of Tabor has passed one million players and US$30 million in revenue since the start of early access in March 2023. Now the virtual reality survival shooter from Combat Waffle Studios, published by Beyond Frames Entertainment, has arrived on PlayStation VR2 on May 7, 2025.

The data

  • Platforms: PlayStation VR2, Meta Quest, Steam VR and Pico.
  • Cross-play across all devices.
  • Explore, loot, shoot and craft items, alone or in a team; betraying teammates is fair game too, because the rule is to trust no one.
  • Meta ranks the game among the 50 best-selling of all time on its store.

According to Maeva Sponbergs, head of publishing at Beyond Frames, Meta Quest players typically play, on average, until the headset’s battery runs out, and many pass 100 hours. On PS VR2, with no battery to limit the session, longer matches are expected.

Combat Waffle, founded in 2022 in Florida, is owned by US military veterans; Beyond Frames is based in Stockholm and focused on XR.

In practice

In practice, this means the bottleneck of sessions stops being the battery and becomes the player. Translating the jargon: the new limit is your arm tired from holding a gun that doesn’t exist.
