What a cute mix: Drop Duchy, from Sleepy Mill Studio and published by The Arcade Crew (the same publisher behind Blazing Chrome, Young Souls and Infernax), is now available on PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. It is a strategy roguelite where you build your duchy by fitting falling blocks together, like a puzzle.
Cards and three factions
There are more than 110 cards to unlock upgrades: new buildings, soldier recruitment, resource gathering and other bonuses. The campaign follows branching paths to the final goal, invading an enemy fortress. You can choose between three factions:
- The Duchy: balanced and focused on farming, the starting point for beginners.
- The Republic: bets on large, connected cities, with the Borough terrain, to generate combos in battle.
- The Order: a crusader faction that accumulates Faith with sacred buildings, but cannot spend gold to repair defenses after combat.
According to the publisher, the game has 86% positive reviews on Steam. The price in Brazilian reais was not given in the announcement.
Come along and I will tell you
The diorama-inspired look is a sweetheart, like a toy board that came to life. And I love it when a strategy game sets aside a friendly faction for newcomers, so nobody feels lost in the first realm.
