Numbers first: seven cars, two tracks, a new game mode and a replay gallery. 505 Games and KUNOS Simulazioni released version 0.2 of Assetto Corsa EVO on May 7, 2025, a racing simulator that has been in Steam early access since January 16, 2025.
The new garage
The seven cars added:
- Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA;
- Lotus Exige V6 Cup;
- Porsche 911 Turbo 3.6 (964);
- Mazda MX-5 (NA);
- Honda NSX-R;
- Maserati GT2;
- Alfa Romeo 75 1.8 Turbo Evoluzione.
It’s a selection that ranges from a light classic that is cheap to maintain (the first-generation MX-5) to a real race car (the Maserati GT2), passing through two Alfa Romeos from very different eras.
Two tracks with history
The new tracks are the Circuit of the Americas (COTA), in Austin, Texas, known for its elevation changes and demanding corners, and Donington Park, in England, one of the most traditional circuits in British motorsport. COTA hosts the Formula 1 United States GP, and Donington was the venue of the 1993 European GP.
Modes and tools
The “Custom Race Weekend” mode lets you put together a complete weekend, with free practice, qualifying, warm-up and race, defining each session by number of laps or by time. The new Replay Gallery saves laps to review later, with camera switching, slow motion and a share option.
The game is now organized into two main modes. In Open, all cars and customization options are unlocked from the start, with no progression requirement. In Career, there is player progression, its own economy and a Driving Academy.
Performance
In practice, the least flashy part may be the most important for those who play with dedicated equipment: the update brings a long list of optimizations, including improvements for virtual reality and for triple-monitor setups. Anyone who has tried running a simulator on three screens knows every frame counts.
Translating the jargon: if you have a wheel and pedals sitting idle in the garage, this is a good time to dust them off. If you don’t, the box below gathers a few options.
