Sub-Verge: new psychological puzzle game arrives on Steam

Released on May 1, 2025, Sub-Verge, from Pantaloon and Interactive Tragedy, Limited, is now available on Steam as an official selection of LudoNarraCon. This unique game combines narrative and dialogue with puzzle logic, creating an innovative interactive experience.

An immersive experience in the depths

Developed by Interactive Tragedy, Sub-Verge is set in the depths of the ocean. The gameplay revolves around a pressing question: what happens when we are isolated in a cultural bubble, excluded from a conversation that may determine our fate? As the silent conductor of a sinking submarine, players must navigate a fragile ecosystem of distrust and shifting loyalties.

Emotional puzzles and moral dilemmas

The game challenges conventional narrative approaches in game design, making conversation the main survival mechanic. In many games, dialogue is secondary. In Sub-Verge, it is everything. The player, sealed in a leaking submarine, cannot speak. They can only offer “handles” to the surrounding divers. Who pulls and in what order becomes a complex puzzle and a metaphor for influence.

Zach Dodson’s debut in the world of games

Sub-Verge marks the foray of Zach Dodson, founder of Interactive Tragedy, into the world of games. He brings his critically acclaimed writing to a new medium, after years of experience with narrative forms at his publishing house, featherproof books, and his illuminated novel, Bats of the Republic.
