EVO 2022 starts today

EVO 2022, the world’s biggest fighting game tournament, starts today with the first EVO Showcase on opening day. See how to watch.

EVO 2022, the latest edition of the biggest and most famous fighting game tournament, starts today.

And for the first time, the event will have an EVO Showcase on the first day, which will be streamed on Twitch.

In previous years, it is common behavior among people following the event to build hype for possible announcements after the finals of the tournaments for the games played on the main stage.

Those main stage tournaments are usually for the most famous games of the year, which draw the most participants and also carry the biggest prizes.

But this year, it was announced that on the first day there will be a Showcase, which has been confirmed to include panels with producers and developers, exhibition matches, and the much-awaited announcements.

It seems they are testing this new model to concentrate the release of this information and news, and leave the other days focused only on the tournaments.

We will probably get news about Street Fighter VI, Project L, Guilty Gear Strive and maybe some new announcements from the companies that develop fighting games: Capcom, SNK, Arc System Works, NetherRealm Studios, and many others.
