On April 28, 2022, Microsoft announced on Xbox Wire the date of its big mid-year event. The Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase was set for Sunday, June 12, at 2 p.m. Brasília time.

According to the announcement, the event would bring “incredible titles” from Xbox Game Studios, Bethesda and partners from around the world, with everything about upcoming releases in the Xbox ecosystem, including the games coming to Game Pass on console and PC.
The broadcast would be in more than 30 languages, on several official channels:
- YouTube.com/Xbox;
- Twitch.tv/Xbox;
- Twitch.tv/XboxASL, with American Sign Language interpretation;
- Twitter.com/Xbox;
- Facebook.com/Xbox;
- TikTok.com/@Xbox.
As in 2021, Xbox and Bethesda would share the stage, and the big expectation was to finally see the gameplay of Starfield, Bethesda Game Studios’ space RPG. The game had only been shown in a teaser at E3 2018 and in an in-engine trailer at E3 2021, when it got the November 11, 2022 date as an Xbox Series X|S and PC exclusive. Shortly after the event announcement, in May, Bethesda delayed Starfield to the first half of 2023, along with Arkane Austin’s Redfall, which only increased curiosity about what would be shown.
What came next
The showcase took place on June 12 and brought, as expected, the first gameplay presentation of Starfield. The game was released on September 6, 2023 for PC and Xbox Series X|S and, on April 7, 2026, also arrived on PlayStation 5.
