Riot Games re-presents its League of Legends fighting game

Riot Games re-presents Project L, its League of Legends fighting game spin-off, in a new video with more details on the tag-team system.

Riot Games released a new video today, re-presenting its fighting game spin-off of LOL.

The game is still being called Project L, and in the new video we can see more about the gameplay elements.

As stated by game director Tom Cannon, the game is still in a development phase where they are testing many options, so it is far from finished; the release will probably only be in 2023.

Riot Games’ intention with this game is to create a Super High Quality game, so that the competitive fighting game community (FGC) plays it for many years.

The director also confirmed that the game will be Tag Team style, that is, a 2 vs 2 fight, where you can switch between your two chosen champions or call the “reserve” to help with attacks.

Of course the online part of the game is being built on rollback netcode, but they are also adding their own technologies such as the so-called RiotDirect, which is also used in League of Legends and VALORANT.

Tom Cannon also committed to releasing new information about the game at least twice next year, and plans to start that from July 2022.
