Come along, this one is for those who followed the Tournament of Power with their hearts in their hands: in February 2018, Bandai Namco showed the first images of Goku with Ultra Instinct in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, part of the paid content Extra Pack 2.
The pack arrived on February 28, 2018 on PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PC, via Steam, with four playable characters. Besides Goku in his silver form, there came Jiren, the strongest warrior of Universe 11 (and, between us, it was high time this very serious guy took a few beatings), Android 17 in the Dragon Ball Super version, the park ranger who shone in the tournament, and the mysterious Fu.
Check out the curious story of Fu: he is a character from the games, not the anime. He had appeared earlier in a Dragon Ball Online guide, but his real debut was in Xenoverse 2. He is an artificial demon, son of the villains Towa and Mira, who comes from the future and carries a sword capable of cutting through time and space. Later, he also became an important figure in Super Dragon Ball Heroes.
Along with the fighters, Extra Pack 2 brought the story chapter Infinite History, in which a new threat approaches Conton City, the game’s central city, plus new little outfits, five side quests, eight skills and eight super souls. A free update that accompanied the pack brought more customization options, such as changing skills and the colors of moves and outfits.
What came next
Xenoverse 2 kept receiving packs for years, passed 10 million copies sold in 2023 and got PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions in May 2024. A little treat of longevity, right?
